BEST STEAMED BUNS IN MONTREAL AT EPICERIE HAO

I found the best and tastiest steamed buns in Montreal and they're at newly opened Épicerie HÀO located at the center of Plateau Mont-Royal.

Back when I first heard of this place a couple months ago on Instagram, I immediately knew it was going to be a huge and instant success.

First of all, it's a steamed bun place located in the Plateau and second it's a project in which Anita Feng, the owner of the critically acclaimed Parc-Extension dumpling restaurant: Trilogie has been involved (branding and interior design).

This new project by William Valle, Charles Delluvio and Rachelle Valle, is already very popular. On the day I went with Thibault, Eve and my boyfriend Jeremie, they were almost out of buns and they were out of salad!

On the menu

We had the pork buns which were made of pork shoulder, from Boucherie Pignon Vert, braised in soy sauce, onion, garlic and sesame oil. Needless to say, these buns were out of this world.

We also had the vegetarian version of the buns (shiitake and leek in chili hoisin sauce) and my boyfriend who usually eats no mushrooms at all said it was amazing.

For beverage, the daily tea based drink was really good and I'm really wondering what they put in it so I can do it back home!

I am pretty confident this superbly designed space will quickly become an instant favourite for a quick eat for a lot of people.
